The ‘Impact for Change’ categories recognise content within the true crime genre that have demonstrated exceptional storytelling, investigative prowess, and a profound impact on driving positive change in society. This category celebrates content that goes beyond entertainment, shedding light on important social issues, inspiring activism, and fostering awareness and understanding for victims and their families.
In order to enter, the content must be available to a UK audience and either:
- Be first released during the 2024 calendar year
- or the significant impact resulting from the content must have occurred specifically in the year 2024.
When exploring submissions, our judges will be considering:
Impact: Most importantly for this category, the submission must demonstrate the impact that the book has had, including its ability to spark conversations and raise awareness of a case or cases. The submission should be reinforced with tangible evidence of the impact of the content.
Quality of Writing: The book must exhibit exceptional writing quality, including the use of language, narrative structure, and the ability to engage and captivate readers from start to finish. It should demonstrate a considered approach to ethical storytelling, evidencing sensitivity to survivors or victims as well as their families.
Depth of Research: Judges will assess the depth of research conducted by the author, ensuring that the book is well-researched and based on credible sources.

This category is not specific to one type of media - but rather to an individual who has created content whilst using their skills in investigative reporting to tell a story. This could be in the form of a documentary film, news special or report, podcast, book or series.
This award recognises work that has uncovered critical information, brought new insights to light, and significantly contributed to the understanding of criminal cases or issues related to justice. The winner will be celebrated for their rigorous research, compelling storytelling, ethical journalism, and the ability to engage and inform the public.

This award recognises campaigns that have effectively educated and engaged the public, bringing attention to critical matters such as victims' rights, legal reforms, or crime prevention. The campaigns are celebrated for their creativity, reach, and impact, successfully mobilising communities, influencing public opinion, and fostering meaningful action. This category highlights the power of awareness campaigns to drive social change and contribute to justice and safety.
In order to enter, the campaign must have been live in the UK during the 2024 calendar year.
